Here in the US where I live, we're in the final weeks of election season, or as I think we should call it, "annoy me with your texts and calls" season. I mean, I'm getting more messages from politicos I've never heard of than I am from my mom. π¬ Maybe you can relate, Reader. (And if you live in another nation, is this happening to you, too? Hit reply and tell me!) Thankfully, our national political season will soon be over here. But unfortunately, the season for office politics is always here. And in an era where there's no one "right" answer for any situation, internal politics get more complicated and confusing than ever. π€·πΌββοΈ But it doesn't have to be that way. Pinky swear. And you don't have to wait for the CEO to get fired or your boss to retire for the political environs to change. In fact, a few years ago, I wrote a popular article sharing strategies you can use to manage office politics differently, without being a jerk.β Plus, these strategies don't require you to compromise your values or well-being. Instead of playing someone else's game, you'll better understand the game board and can make your own moves. I tested the article's advice with a few of my clients recently, and it still holds up. So here it is for you now, if you or someone you love needs better strategies for managing the office politics: βRead "Office Politics: What's Really Going On (& What You Can Do About It)" So how 'bout you? What frustrates you about the office politics in your company? Hit REPLY and tell me your story--it's always confidential and goes only to me, btw. I always love hearing from you, and it's a heck of a lot better than those annoying texts (except yours, Mom.) β€οΈ You always have my vote β of confidence, support, and encouragement! Thanks for being here, and keep soaring through your work and life! P.S. My friends at Morning Brew are graciously sponsoring this week's email. They work hard to bring a short & sweet summary of the day's news to your desktop without bias (and with a dash of fun, which I appreciate!) When you sign up (free), they offset a teeny bit of the expense of bringing you these weekly notes. Check them out! --D |
