πŸŽ‚ 🎁 πŸŽ‰ birthday wishes for you

Birthdays make the brain go wild

In a world of uncertainty, Reader, here's one thing I know for sure.

Before the end of this year, you will have had a birthday. πŸŽ‚

Brilliant, I know. πŸ™„ But stay with me. . .

Birthdays are on my mind because, as I write this, mine is tomorrow. πŸŽ‰

And yes, my big beautiful brain is working overtime.

Oh, but it's not working to celebrate all the GOOD stuff that's happened in the past 365 (leaders & teams I've helped, fun I've had, kudos I've earned, etc.). Nuh-uh.

My brain is spending a sheeeetload of energy to judge, criticize, and question.

The chatter sounds like this:

  • What am I really doing with my life? Is it enough??
  • Does my work really matter? To whom? Why?
  • Am I getting ahead or falling behind? How do I know?
  • As I get older, am I getting outdated or irrelevant?
  • Does anybody care? Hello??? Hello???!!

Sound familiar? Probably. I mean, you don't need a birthday to be wrestling with the battle of the brain. 🧠

But wrestle we do. Hello, human--I see you.

In fact, the neuroscience nerds call this a "temporal landmark." In simple terms, days like birthdays (and holidays, 1sts of the month, and even Mondays) bring a higher level of awareness to that one thing we all wish we could control: TIME.

(Of course, if you've been reading my work for any length of time, you know you don't control any of it, right? )

If you wrestle with the battle of the brain on a birthday β€”or even a Monday--here's one action you can take to help now.

Hit REPLY. Send me the date of YOUR birthday (month/day only is fine) and on that day, I'll land a special reminder in your inbox to help win the battle of the brain.

If you want to tell me more about what's happening for you in your life at work, and where you might need a little support and love, add that. I value hearing from you. Plus, as a credentialed coach, confidentiality is core to my ethics. So that means your reply goes only to me--no bots or AI or even other humans involved (much as I love humans.)

And when you get notes back from me, they're ALWAYS written by me (I might use a smart tool to get the timing right but my words always come from moi.)

So, hit REPLY now, tell me your birthday or other day when you might need a boost. And in the words of my grandmother Muz, remember that "birthdays are better than the alternative."

I'm so glad you're here. Keep soaring!

Always, Darcy

P.S. A few years ago on another birthday eve, I wrote 4 Career Questions to Ask on Your Birthday. It helps turn those negative brain vibes around, fast. Read it here on my blog and find other helpful articles, scripts & videos, too. --D
