contemplating retirement? read this

Y'know, Reader, it's been more than ten years since I started writing these weekly Insider notes to you.

(Okay, you may not have been with me for the full decade, but I always knew you'd be here eventually. And here you are! 🧞‍♀️)

So it's inevitable that during all that time, a few of you would decide to retire.

I don't write about retirement often. I'm more interested in helping you create a life at work where you feel clear, confident and in control--one you don't feel you have to retire from in order to live your life.

But the truth is that even if all's well in our work, many of us will eventually retire from it.

At that point, the age-old question pops back up: "what's next for me?"

I was talking to my friend, former client, and longtime reader Becky Healy about how she was navigating that question after retiring from a busy worklife at State Farm. Becky's insights were sooooo good that I asked if she'd write a short article for my blog that I could share with all of you.

Thankfully, she agreed.

So how 'bout you, Reader? If you're deciding on your retirement, are you also deciding who you want to be then? Or if you're retired (and I know there are a few of you out there--thanks for still reading!), what lessons do you want someone to learn from your experience? Hit REPLY and tell me your stories--I always LOVE to hear from YOU!

Thanks again to Becky for sharing her story. It's a good reminder that our identity can and will change over our lifetime, and that we get to choose the one that works for us. As always, if I can help you with a challenge in your life at work, just ask--I'm here for you.

Always, Darcy

P.S. The issue of identity is always a juicy one for my clients, especially those at crossroads in their careers or lives. It's not easy to get clear about who we are NOW and what we want, and too often we're looking at ourselves through the eyes of others and ignoring what's true to us. There's no need to wait until retirement to redefine and reset yourself. Book a complimentary consultation with me and let's explore how working together will help hear your own voice again. --D
