you're not corny 🌽

Growing up in the Midwest USA, Reader, the word hybrid was always associated with corn, scientifically engineered for a better harvest.

So I kept shaking my head the other day when I heard a so-called expert lead a talk on "hybrid employees."

Shucks no. 🌽

Let's get something straight, shall we?

You (or someone you love) may work a hybrid schedule, cross-pollinating between being alone at home and being on-site at a physical office.

But you are not a hybrid employee.

You are a whole employee.

You are not remote; you work from a non-office location.

You're not virtual, you're real. 😇

In a world where we work with people everywhere, anywhere, we need a reset. It's time to create new agreements, share expectations, and build new skills.

Because the way we're working isn't always working—and you deserve better.

Yes, I know that when some bigwig calls you a "hybrid employee" they don't mean you're an engineered ear of corn. But words matter, and people matter more. So even though you're not sitting next to me as I write this, I know you're not remote—you're real, and you matter. Thanks for being here!

Always, Darcy
